This past week Father Jeffry Moore, President of Women Here and Now (Mujeres Aquí y Ahora / MAYA) was called for a rescue mission. A little boy from the Pearl Islands had a piece of corn stuck up his nose, and the doctor on the island of San Miguel did not have the equipment to remove it. The corn had already been stuck in the boy’s nose for two days! The boy’s mother had no money to pay for the ferry to the mainland, so the doctor on San Miguel asked if Father Jeffry could please transport the boy to the hospital aboard his plane.
Quickly, the little boy and his mother were flown to the mainland that very day, Sept. 3, 2019. In addition to the corn piece, it was discovered that the boy had a growth in his nose and needed surgery! The boy received the medical care he needed, and he and his mother returned home the next day. Thanks be to God!
